Sustainable production

The textile production is made in the region of Porto, in Portugal, a country we are fond of for its savoir-vivre, and do support for its textile savoir-faire.
Indeed, Portugal figures among the most highly rated production sites for designers with high quality standards, especially concerning jersey work.
This location is a strategic choice as well, with regard to reactivity and flexibility, but also to environmental impact, considering the human size of the factories and the geographic proximity.

We only use GOTS certified cotton (which stands for Global Organic Textile Standards), ensuring greater transparency and traceability when sourcing organic cotton :

» Using sustainable production and transformation processes
» Respecting and improving work conditions
» Promoting the use of organic fibers
» Banning the use of dangerous inputs, such as toxic heavy metals and aromatic solvents.

Besides, all our products are Oeko-Tex certified, an independent label that helps to protect effectively both consumers and the planet. This label is pioneering the creation of tests that aim to limit the use of chemicals, and whose thresholds go way beyond what is currently in effect on a national and an international level.

Back to Nature protection

In 2018, we joined the philanthropic community 1% for the Planet France.

As a member, we pledged to donate at least 1% of our annual revenue to environmental protection initiatives. The 1% FTP network, which includes over 500 accredited French associations, helps to fight against greenwashing, check donations and boost their effect.

Always close to our heart, our love of the wilderness and adventure led us to choose to support animal welfare and biodiversity by making donations to the French association ASPAS Nature, Association pour la protection des Animaux Sauvages. 100% free and independent.

ASPAS fights for the voice of the wild fauna.

It mobilizes public opinion, addresses elected officials and raises awareness in all public circles as to the need to protect natural habitats and species. Its legal expertise is second to none. For nearly 40 years, it has engaged in over 3500 legal proceedings to help enforce and improve environmental rights.

ASPAS creates wildlife reserves called “Réserves de Vie Sauvage®”where no human activity is allowed, except for walks made out of love and curiosity for nature. This label represents the highest level of protection in France.

Today’s ecology, tomorrow’s economy

Our brand evolves alongside the world we live in.

It channels that virtuous energy that we all need to face the environmental challenges that must be tackled, without feeling guilty of our own existence.

Here at Hemen, our fashion is both artisan-made and visionary, and boasts multiple work commitments, such as delivering quality products, adopting sustainable production methods and responsible consumption, but also multiple personal ones.

Environmentalists and humanists to the core, we are indeed proud to be able to support and promote the message of various environmental protection initiatives.
